Sailing in the Gulf of Bothnia

Still in Sweden, this is the archipellago heading in towards Örnsöldsvik. We spent two days knocking around the islands and then, coz there was no wind whatsoever, motored back to Lena's summer house overnight with some strong coffee to keep us awake. These pics look a bit dark which is why I've made the background black. Hopefully it'll make them appear a bit brighter.

The Boat.
This slept three of us comfortably. Myself, Lena, and Magnus (Lena's brother). We also managed to store a healthy amount of wine and lager in the hull. Alcoholic beverages have been medically proven to induce wobblyness and thereby reduce the effects experienced by sea-sickness. Well that was the excuse anyway. Personally, I felt fine before we started on the booze.

The Boat.

Lena and I heading west from Ulvöhamn to Mjältön - Sveriges högsta ö - Sweden's highest island.

Senior First Officer Barber at the helm. Note the maritime navigation chart in the frame to increase the coolness factor.

And here is Lena map reading. I have to say Lena's maritime navigational skills are slightly better than those displayed on the M6 on dry land.

Which way now?

And here is the boat moored up again. The guest book on the jetty is signed 'Neil from London'. This made the harbour master's day and he's probably still telling all his mates about it to this day.
